Soaring high above the Long Island Sound is a BC Eagle ready to record the action this JSA sailing season!
Hey JSA, my name is Katy Nastro and I am a former JSA sailor myself. This summer I will be taking the reins from well known and loved JSA blog editor Nicole Hering. Nicole may pop up every now and again until I get my feet wet. We will definitely miss her style and great reporting, but she is definitely on to bigger things.
Before we jump into this summer season, I wanted to just briefly introduce myself. I am currently attending Boston College, and will be a Junior this fall semester. I live on Long Island, in the town of Huntington, and used to sail out of both Head of the Bay and Centerport Yacht Clubs. I started out sailing on the Long Island Sound and can attribute much of my success today from learning to sail through the JSA. [An interesting fun fact for everyone is Nicole and I used to sail together back in the day.] Now my sailing is predominately with my college team, the Boston College Eagles. I also am the Secretary of NEISA, the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association, keeping up with all the new happenings in collegiate sailing around New England.
So now that I basically gave you my resume, I just wanted to let you know how excited I am for this summer sailing season! I hope everyone is ready to get out on the water and dust off those skills that have been hidden away all winter. Even though school maybe out, any interesting stories or pictures you guys may find along the way this summer, please send them my way. You can email me at news@jsalis.org anytime! Hope everyone's year went well and happy sailing to you. See you all out of the water very soon!
