Jack Belisle is a JSA of LIS sailor from Horseshoe Harbor YC in Larchmont, NY who combined his interests of sailing and video editing to create a very nice short video about the US Olympic Sailing Team Good Luck USA Sendoff party presented by Maclaren that took place at Larchmont Yacht Club on Saturday, July 14.
We wanted to share the video with you so you could see the work of one of our sailors who has applied two of his passions simultaneously, and created something very nice out of it. So go ahead and get that popcorn popping, and take a look at Jack’s short movie below!
After the Good Luck USA Sendoff, Jack commented:
"I first heard about this event from the head of my junior sailing program in an email. She said the event was open to all junior sailors across the Long Island Sound, and that it would be a really great experience. The second I heard about it I decided to go. I knew it was going to be packed, so I got there a bit early to assure some exclusive conversations with the athletes.
The mood at the event was a mixture of pride and excitement. The Olympians were obviously giddy about leaving for London the next day, yet they became totally relaxed when they saw that there was a giant turnout for their send off, and they knew there were so many people backing them. The athletes were so down to earth, willing to talk to you for a good while, do video interviews, and answer questions right after they were asked.
Overall, it was a great day. After a Q&A session, a big 'USA, USA' chant and a performance by the Silver Dolphins, it was time for the sailing team to leave. They left knowing they had made the day one to remember for hundreds of people."
Jack started sailing 7 years ago at Horseshoe Harbor Yacht Club, and currently sails Pixels. He first became interested in video editing in 5th grade, when he completed a video project for his social studies class. Through the end of his middle school years, Jack created some small videos, mostly for school projects, but also for pleasure because he enjoyed making videos so much. When Jack entered Mamaroneck High School in Mamaroneck, NY, he took a video production class and used professional video-editing software to make movies. Since then he has started a YouTube channel and makes approximately one short video weekly.
